The Far Route Travel Awards, considered as one of the 10 most influential tourism events in the world, have been announced. Leaving Izmir, Belgrade and New York behind, it was selected as the "World's Leading Tourism Destination" category.
İzmir was selected as the winner in the “World's Leading Tourism Destination” category at the 10th Far Route Travel Awards. The Far Route Travel Awards are considered as one of the 10 most influential tourism events in the world.
The international survey was held in 45 categories between 18-24 January. A total of 182 thousand 475 people voted in all categories. İzmir came in first with more than ten percent of the votes in its category. Belgrade and New York followed Izmir.
Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer recently announced the İzmir Tourism Promotion Strategy and Action Plan, emphasizing that İzmir's route is to contribute to the growth of the city's economy and increase employment by giving priority to agriculture and tourism. In this context, the Visitİzmir mobile application, which connects all destinations and activities in the city, announced that it will open free access to tourism activities suitable for all areas of interest. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality has ensured the reliability of Izmir by implementing the Orange Circle tourism hygiene certificate program during the pandemic.
