The people of Izmir are waiting for the first step from the government for the Ankara-Izmir high-speed train project, which has been dragging for a long time. According to the news in Habertürk; “The project that will connect Ankara and Izmir with a high-speed train network was first brought to the agenda in 2007. Good news is now expected to take the first step in the project, which was postponed for a while due to the country's priorities.

The project is expected to be completed in 42 months after the start of the project. However, it is thought that the project will be put into service 6 months earlier than planned, after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's request for "early completion" in every major project.

In the first stage of the project, between Ankara and Afyon will be put into service. In the second phase, the area between Afyon and Manisa will be put into use, and in the third and last phase, YHT will start to serve between Manisa and Izmir.

In the construction phase of the project, which will become one of the giant project for Turkey after the completion of a separate employment future employment on a separate agenda. While it is envisaged that 11 thousand people will work in this project at the first stage during the construction phase, Ankara-Afyon-Uşak-Manisa-İzmir provinces will experience important economic contributions of the project after its completion.

7 stations and 3 large stations will be built in the project. This will open the door to new employment in stations and stations. Regionally, the food supply sector will also get its share from this recovery.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Adil Karaismailoğlu, gave the good news that the 14-hour railway travel time between Ankara and Izmir will be reduced to 3 hours 30 minutes with the project.

It is stated that the Ankara-İzmir YHT project will bring an action to the economic recession caused by the pandemic. With the project, which will both increase employment and stimulate the construction logistics sector, the demand for Afyon's thermal tourism is expected to boom. While the opening of new hotels will be on the agenda with the project, and the first impact of employment will be seen in Afyon.
