Thanks to the Commercial Electronic Message Management System (IYS) implemented by the Ministry of Commerce in order to prevent unsolicited commercial electronic messages, citizens can use their right to approve or reject these messages.

Implemented by the Ministry of Commerce, the İYS provides citizens with the opportunity to make a choice to block commercial electronic messages such as SMS, voice calls and e-mails that disturb consumers. The deadline for service providers with more than 150 thousand commercial electronic message approvals to upload their current approvals to the IYS expired on December 31, 2020.

Citizens can obtain their approval with the İYS, which was put into service on January 7, through the İYS section in the e-Devlet system or “www.iys.org.tr”And started to change approval preferences. As of February 16, when the right of refusal was not exercised by the citizens, the existing data transferred to the IYS by the service providers was deemed approved.

In addition, citizens will be able to change their commercial electronic message preferences over the İYS on any date after this date.

Citizens can find out which businesses have their mobile phone number and e-mail information in the system in question, and they can only receive messages from the businesses they want with their approval or rejection preferences.

Commercial message approval deadline for those under 150 thousand May 31

On the other hand, the approval upload process for service providers with 150 or less commercial electronic message approvals will expire on May 31st.

After the said uploads, the deadline for these approvals to be checked by the citizens was determined as July 15, 2021.

Citizens will be able to check these approvals between 1 June and 15 July.

In addition, the IMS, where approval data is also stored, reduces the archiving and approval burden of service providers.

Obligation of proof passes to İYS for approvals obtained through İYS.

More than 2 million people checked their message approvals on IYS

Minister of Trade Ruhsar Pekcan stated yesterday that more than 2 million citizens have entered the system via “www.iys.org.tr” or e-Devlet gateway and checked their approvals. Since the İYS was put into service, 32,2 million rejections and nearly 300 thousand approvals have been made by citizens.
