A protocol between the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, General Directorate of Food Control and the Turkish Veterinary Medical Association (TVHB) in order to monitor the movements of cats, dogs and ferrets and to identify these animals in order to fight animal diseases, especially rabies, and to record these animals in electronic environment. signed.
Within the framework of the protocol signed by Harun Seçkin, General Manager of Food Control and Ali Eroğlu, President of TVHB Central Council, it will be mandatory to identify and register owned dogs from this year, and owned cats and ferrets from 2022.
Cats, dogs and poppies in pets and ornamental animal production centers, which have received production permission from our Ministry, will also be registered within the scope of the practice, where cats and ferrets can be registered voluntarily from this year. The implementation will be the basis for the implementation of the Animal Rights Law, which is on the agenda of the Parliament, and will ensure easy access to the owners of animals abandoned or lost on the streets.
With the application;
The owner of the newborn pet will apply to the provincial or district directorate of the Ministry within 3 months at the latest from the date of birth.
Pet animals whose passports are issued by inserting microchips will be recorded within 15 days, and information such as vaccinations for pets and change of ownership will be recorded within 15 days at the latest.
In the event that stray animals are owned by animal shelters by giving them to real or legal persons, the application will be made to the provincial or district directorates within 60 days at the latest from the date of adoption with the animal's health certificate.
A new passport will be issued for the animal by the official veterinarian and will be recorded in the database.
In the event of the death or loss of registered pets, the pet owner will report the situation to the provincial or district directorate within 60 days at the latest. If the people who find the abandoned animal want to adopt these animals, they will apply to the provincial / district directorates.
A subcutaneous microchip will be applied to cats, dogs and ferrets, it can be read through the hand terminal, from now on, the owner of the abandoned cat and dog on the street can be determined by reading with the hand terminal.
All diseases of the animal's past, especially rabies vaccine, will be recorded.
Microchip application can be carried out by veterinarians working under our Ministry or by veterinary health technicians / technicians under their supervision, or by freelance veterinarians within the scope of the protocol signed.
