Adapazarı Train, which has been serving between Adapazarı and Istanbul for more than a century, is not operated due to the pandemic. Adapazarı Train, which has a very special place for Adapazarı, is a trend that contributes not only to the people of Adapazarı but also to the residential areas on the Adapazarı-Haydarpaşa line. Not only the people of Adapazar, but also the people of İzmit are waiting for that train with longing.

Stating that Adapazarı Train should start its flights Muhammet Emin Can from Orgür Kocaeli Newspaper “The station is very calm! We longed for the train ”:

GAR VERY CALM! WE LEFT THE TRAIN

Train has been one of the most important means of transportation in Izmitli's life throughout history. Until the end of the 1990s, dozens of trains passed over the rails in the area where the railway passed through the city, which is used as a walking road today. There were days when there were 63 trips during the day. Of course, 'bells' were closed during these train crossings, people waited on both sides of the rails. Some bravely jumped over the barriers and crossed over while the train was coming. Unfortunately, these transitions have had bitter endings. Many people died on these rails. Since the early 2000s, the railway has been moved to the coastline. However, with the departure of the suburban train, which attracted great attention from the employees and workers, the train became less important for the city people. However, the Adapazarı-Istanbul train would stop at most of the factories at certain hours, bring the workers off, and collect them from here in the evening and bring them to their homes.

When YHT came, things changed

Within the scope of the arrangements made on the rails for the High Speed Train (YHT), the date that the train came out of Izmit's life was 2012. The flights were stopped. In 2015, three new lines were added to the suburban train line operating between Adapazarı Arifiye-İzmit-Pendik on a single line. Studies have been extended. Today, there are 4 lines passing through Izmit. However, studies continue after certain stations. TCDD General Directorate officials said, “Construction of the third and fourth line continues. Work on the Körfez-Gebze line will not be completed until the end of this year. They informed that the new platforms built in 42 Evler area are also dependent on the completion of this line ”. Therefore, it seems like a dream that Adapazarı-Istanbul suburban train services, which could not be operated since March 2020 due to the pandemic, will restart in the near future.

NEW LINES HELD

After the High Speed Train Line was put into service, the train line at the Izmit crossing was three. For YHT, two lines were round-trip, while a third line for freight and suburban trains was opened in 2015 on the southern part of the existing line. With the opening of the line, suburban train services between Arifiye-İzmit-Pendik were made 4 trips a day, 4 departures and 8 arrivals. TCDD added the 4th line to the existing lines.

The time has been increased to 10

TCDD is still using one line as a conventional line. Industrial transportation is carried out between Köseköy and Körfez. Work is still being carried out in the section of this line from Körfez to Gebze. Tunnels and overpasses of this line are arranged, rails are laid. The latest information provided by the TCDD official is as follows:

“It is difficult to say when it will end and the voyages will begin. It will probably end in 2022. The line under construction, a line passing under the Osmangazi Bridge, and the number of flights between Adapazarı Arifiye-İzmit and Pendik, which is 8 per day, will be increased to 5 trips per day, 5 departures and 10 arrivals when all the works are completed.
