Ardahan Deputy Orhan Atalay and Serhat Development Agency (SERKA) Secretary General İbrahim Taşdemir made examinations on the route of the Göle-Kars train line, which was built to transport scotch pine trees during the Russian period and is planned to be re-established.

Ardahan Deputy Atalay and SERKA General Secretary Taşdemir visited the investment areas in Göle district and received information from the authorities. Atalay and Taşdemir later toured the railway route between Göle and Kars in the Ottoman-Russian War of 93-1877, known as the 78 War. The horse-drawn train line, which was established to carry the scotch pine forests in Göle district to Kars and also to transport, served in the region for many years. Giving information to Atalay and Taşdemir about the train line, Şanlıbey Alabay, a journalist in Göle district, stated that the line was used until the 1930s. Stating that the line was used to transport passengers and especially yellow pine logs in the past, Alabay said that the Dekavili Horse Train Line, which works on the Konga road between Göle and Kars, which was formerly known as Merdinik, was established by the Russians and worked with kadana horses.

Deputy Orhan Atalay said that the line has been used very actively in the past and has a logistical potential for the region. SERKA Secretary General Taşdemir, on the other hand, under the scope of the "Response and Resilience to the COVID-19 Crisis" project, carried out in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Ministry of Industry and Technology, for more effective use of foreign trade opportunities, analysis and reporting of fragile sectors for the regions, TRA2 Region Logistics Sector Analysis. stated that the work was done. Taşdemir said, “In this context, although the Kars-Göle railway line is not active at the moment, it has the potential to provide an advantage to our region. We intend to revive the line by making the necessary planning and research in the future. In addition to the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway, which is currently active in our region, and the Kars Logistics Center, which is planned to be opened in 2021, the necessary infrastructure will increase the logistics potential of the region. As a result of the plans we will make, we will follow the work together with our stakeholders to be included in the investment program. He spoke.
