Emirates SkyCargo signed an agreement with UNICEF to prioritize the transportation of Covid-19 vaccines, essential drugs, medical devices and other essential supplies as part of combating the Covid-19 pandemic.

Emirates SkyCargo signed an agreement with UNICEF to prioritize the transportation of COVID-19 vaccines, essential medicines, medical devices and other essential supplies as part of fighting the COVID-19 outbreak. This announcement is the latest in the steps to help societies around the world overcome the devastating impact of COVID-19.

The UNICEF-led Humanitarian Air Transport Initiative brings together a large number of business partners with the capacity to distribute essential supplies to more than 19 countries to support the COVAX Facility, a global effort to achieve equal access to COVID-100 vaccines. UNICEF's Humanitarian Air Transport Initiative also serves as a blueprint for a collective global partnership to address the health and humanitarian crises of the future.

Nabil Sultan, Emirates Cargo Division Senior Vice President, said: “Every day is very important in the fight against COVID-19. The sooner societies access COVID-19 vaccines, the sooner they can prevent the spread of the virus and get back up again. As a global airline with more than 130 destinations, Emirates SkyCargo has been committed to tackling the pandemic from the very beginning, and by establishing a GDP-certified private airline distribution center, we have implemented numerous initiatives to accelerate the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines through Dubai. Through our partnership with UNICEF, we are taking another step to prioritize and lay the groundwork for the fast and safe transport of COVID-19 vaccines, especially to communities where the disease has wreaked havoc. ”

Emirates SkyCargo leads the air transport industry in the transport of temperature sensitive medicines, including vaccines. For the safe transportation of medicines and vaccines, the airline has a global network spanning six continents, a modern fleet of wide-body aircraft only, and a state-of-the-art EU GDP-certified infrastructure in central Dubai.

Emirates SkyCargo announced in October 2020 that it has established the world's largest EU GDP certified airline distribution center for the storage and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. With over 15.000 square meters of storage space for vaccines, Emirates SkyCargo is able to store large quantities of COVID-19 vaccines and regularly transport small quantities of vaccines to countries with limited cold chain infrastructure, reducing the need for large-scale storage solutions.

Emirates SkyCargo will deliver COVID-2021 vaccines through Dubai in January 19, with three Dubai-based institutions, DP World, International Humanitarian City and Dubai Airports, on the instructions of UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Emir of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. COVID-19 vaccine association has been created for rapid transport to countries.
