Three separate “Covid-19 Safe Service Certificates” were given by the Turkish Standards Institute to the Metro and Tram service facilities affiliated to Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. The documents show that all measures for combating the pandemic are taken and fully implemented at the facilities they are given.
In the pandemic process, İzmir Metro A.Ş. and İzmir Tramway service facilities, three separate COVID-19 Safe Service Certificates were issued by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE). Stating that they quickly adapted to the conditions of the pandemic period, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer said, “We have always adopted the principle of protecting the health of all our stakeholders, especially our citizens and employees using our public transportation vehicles. We continue to provide fast, comfortable and hygienic public transportation services to the people of İzmir without compromising the rules set by the authorities ”.
Some of the activities carried out within the scope of combating COVID-19 in Metro and Tram service buildings are as follows:
Risk assessment was carried out, after the measures taken, risk assessment was repeated regularly.
All cleaners were trained by workplace doctors.
Cleaning and sanitation procedures were carried out with the equipment and method specified in the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Cleaning Instruction Guide.
The seating arrangement in the cafeterias has been changed and made suitable for social distance. Hours and locations of use were arranged on the basis of departments.
Separate cleaning and disinfection plans were created for all common areas, especially working areas. Training was given to employees assigned for cleaning and disinfection operations that are carried out regularly every day.
Tea stoves were temporarily closed to service. Employees were allowed to use the tea and coffee machines without contact with their cards. Possible contamination risk has been minimized with the pedal disinfection devices placed next to the common photocopy machines, especially at the building and workshop entrances.
Commonly used fountains were removed, and disposable glass water was introduced.
At the entrance of the company, the temperature measurement of each personnel started. Employees above the limit value were directed to the health institution. In the Personnel Attendance Control System, card reading and face recognition systems were introduced instead of finger readers.
The method to be followed for a possible case that may occur in employees during working hours was determined, isolation rooms were prepared to be used before referral to the health institution.
Visitor entries were restricted except in compulsory cases. Fever measurements and HES codes of visitors are checked and commitment to comply with the rules taken under COVID-19 has started. The visits were completed in the shortest time possible.
Information was given on the use of masks, and posters were placed in common areas to increase awareness. Masks were regularly distributed to the staff, mask waste boxes were placed and waste was properly disposed of.
Arrangements were made in the offices and driver's lounge in order to continue uninterrupted work, the number of employees and the maximum number of people who can be together at the same time were determined and written on the doors. Face-to-face training and meetings have been transferred to the digital environment as much as possible. The halls and work offices used before and after the physical training and meetings were disinfected every day, the maximum number of participants was determined and the seating arrangements were made suitable for social distance.
The utilization capacities of all toilets, washbasins, showers and changing rooms in the central buildings and workshops in accordance with the social distance were determined.
For the monitoring of COVID-19, an interface that can be used on mobile devices was prepared and monitored daily. In this way, the duties and working areas of the positive and contact personnel were monitored and necessary measures were taken to ensure that the service is not interrupted.
