The struggle of Istanbul residents and Ankara residents for the transportation of bicycles on urban suburban trains was transferred to the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Bicycle users applied to the Parliament and requested that their bicycles be transported in Marmaray and Başkentray, operated by TCDD, during rush hours.

According to the report of Önder Yılmaz from Milliyet; “TCDD General Directorate, to which the Turkish Grand National Assembly conveyed the situation, replied that“ TCDD does not deem it appropriate to abolish the peak hour application in urban (Marmaray, Başkentray) transportation vehicles ”.

Some bicycle lovers living in Istanbul and Ankara applied to the TBMM Petition Commission. He requested that bicycles be allowed to be carried on Marmaray and Başkentray suburban trains operated by TCDD.

Stating that their applications to TCDD for the reduction of time zones in which bicycles are prohibited, were also rejected, the citizens noted that the Ombudsman Institution (KDK) was also involved.

The commission processed the applications and asked the TCDD General Directorate why "bicycles are not allowed to be carried". TCDD, in his reply:

“Improvements have been made in terms of peak hours, which are not allowed to carry bicycles, through the necessary inspection and exchange of views by our relevant units,” he said.

In the article, it was pointed out that the citizens demand the complete abolition of the clock application, and it was stated that "it was not appropriate by our organization to abolish the peak hour application in Marmaray and Başkentray completely."
