There are approximately 15 thousand genetic diseases that have been identified today. Some of these diseases have some ultrasonographic findings. In order for a genetic disease to be diagnosed in the mother's womb, it must cause a structural disorder in the baby. Among the structural disorders; There are holes in the heart, abnormalities in the heart vessels, abnormalities in the heart valves, disorders in brain development, non-development of the anterior abdominal wall, finger excess, limb shortness, facial shape disorders and hundreds more. However, some genetic diseases unfortunately do not show any symptoms in the womb. Therefore, abnormal ultrasonographic findings should be evaluated very carefully.

Family members are also taken into consideration in detected disorders

Many structural disorders can be detected in the baby in detailed ultrasonography. These disorders alone do not mean anything. It may be necessary to evaluate the baby, parents or even siblings. After detailed evaluation, it is decided whether to perform additional tests.
