Chuck Berry, (born Charles Berry born October 18, 1926, St. Louis, Missouri, USA - March 18, 2017; St. Charles, Missouri, USA), American musician and rock'n'roll artist.
He was born on the 18th of October 1926 in California, USA. Until then, in blues and rock'n'roll bands the solo instrument was saxophone or piano; Things changed when Gibson discovered the Les Paul electric guitar in the early 1940s. The transportation of electric guitar and rock'n'roll to the present started with this bridge. Chuck Berry also continues to impress many musicians today.
A guitarist and rock'n'roll player, Berry first started his musical career in 1950 with the trio named St Louis, Mo, which we can call a club or bar band. Johnson was on the piano, and Ebby Harding was on the drums, while he was in this band with his guitar.
Blues artist Muddy Waters recommended them to Chess Records in May 1955 in Chicago. One month later, their song 'Maybeline' was released. The fact that this recognition, which entered the charts in August, was limited to the USA only, was due to the fact that the single was not released in the UK.
He continued this success with his song 'Roll Over Beethoven', released in June 1956. He then made hit songs like 'You Can't Catch Me', 'Scholl Day', 'Oh Baby Doll'.
At the end of 1957, his single 'Rock'n Roll Music' was released. Following this, it became even more famous with tracks such as 'Sweet Little Sixteen', 'Johnny B Goode', 'Back's The USA'.
He got into trouble with the police as he entered the 1960s. Berry's pieces, who spent two years in federal prison in Indiana, were also interpreted by the new bands of those days, the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. At the same time, Berry's songs were collected in 3 albums and released.
Released from prison at the beginning of 1964, Berry closed down in his studio in Chicago and started making new pieces. A month later, the single 'Nadine (Is It You?) Was released. Then he toured England. On May 9, 1964, he gave a concert with Animals in Finsbury Park Astoria.
He was awarded the "Lifetime Achievement" award by the Grammy in 1985 and died on March 18, 2017 at the age of 90.
Movies such as "Hail Hail Rock'n 'Roll" were shot and books were written in his name.
