ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORT SME
The Kocaeli Smart Bicycle System “KOBİS”, which was established to facilitate urban access, to create intermediate facilities that nourish public transportation systems, and to encourage the use of an environmental and sustainable transportation vehicle, started service in 2014. KOBİS, which has been used for 6 years, has become the preferred means of transportation by citizens during the pandemic process. KOBİS continued to grow in 2020 as well.
74 STATION, 158 THOUSAND MEMBERS
For KOBİS, which is serving by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department, 2020 new stations were established in Gölcük District Halıdere, Ulaşlı and İzmit District Şirintepe District in 3. Preferred instead of public transportation vehicles due to the pandemic process, KOBİS reaches 74 stations and provides service with 864 smart parking units and 520 smart bicycles.
12 MILLION 275 THOUSAND 497 MINUTES RENTAL
According to the data of 2020, 181 bicycles were rented from KOBİS stations. With these leases, citizens used bicycles for 636 million 12 thousand 275 minutes. 497 thousand 2020 people were added to the KOBİS family in 35. With these numbers, the number of KOBİS members reached 299 thousand.
