The Egyptian Presidency announced that it is reviewing a final agreement with Germany's Siemens AG to develop a 360 km high-speed electric rail network worth 23 billion Egyptian pounds ($ 1.000 billion).

In the statement published after the meeting between President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Siemens President and Chief Executive Officer Joe Kaeser, it was stated that the first section will feature 15 stations and will be completed within two years.
