Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Department of Science Affairs carried out important works in 2020 to make transportation in all districts of Kocaeli in a more comfortable and modern way. The Metropolitan Municipality provided a healthy and safe transportation opportunity for both vehicles and pedestrians with the projects of intersections, tunnels, bridges and overpasses that it has implemented throughout the city with the principle of 'road is civilization'.

THE PANDEM IS NOT OBSTACLE

In 2020, curfew restrictions were experienced due to the negative impact of the Covit-19 pandemic in our country as well as in the world. Metropolitan Municipality implemented giant projects without interruption, despite the conditions that negatively affected life. In our city, which will make life easier for the inhabitants of Kocaeli, which is one of the important routes of intercity and international passenger and logistics transportation, projects have been carried out to solve traffic congestion with transit roads and TEM connection roads.

DİLOVASI EYNERCE INTERSECTION YAVUZ SULTAN SELİM STREET CONNECTION

A roundabout and a new culvert were built on the north side of the Eynerce Junction in the project, which gives breathing space to vehicles entering and leaving Dilovası from the Eynerce Junction on the D-100 Highway. The roundabout built and Yavuz Sultan Selim Street, which will be used as a side road, is connected to each other. The entrance to Dilovası district center from the D-100 highway was provided indirectly from other roads. This problem was eliminated and transportation to the district center was solved with the roundabout built on the north side of the Eynerce Junction.

ÇAYIROVA -TUZLA ŞİFA MAH. PASSING BRIDGE AND CONNECTION ROADS

With the completion of the bridges and connection roads connecting Çayırova and Tuzla, the people of the region took a sigh of relief. With the project completed by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, traffic flow was accelerated and transportation was facilitated. The residents of Şifa Mahallesi, who could reach the Şekerpınar connection road, provided access to Çayırova and İzmit city centers from here. With the new project, by connecting to E-80, both east-west and north-south transportation can be realized. The passage bridge and connection roads to the south part of the truck park in the neighborhood eased the transportation of Şifa Mahallesi and Çayırova Yeni Mahallesi.

CUMAKÖY AND KARAGÖLLÜ NEIGHBORHOOD ON THE CONNECTION ROAD STREET BRIDGE

With the bridge built over Koca Stream, which separates the Gulf and Derince districts from each other, the transportation between the two districts has been made more comfortable and easy. For the reinforced concrete bridge built on the connection road between Körfez District Cumaköy and Derince District Karagöllü Neighborhood, stream improvement and 335 meters of road were built.

SCIENCE CENTER TRAMWAY STATION PEDESTRIAN OVERPASS BRIDGE

The steel carcass pedestrian overpass built next to the Seka Park Science Center stop of the Akçaray Tram Line will provide convenience for citizens to reach the Science Center, Seka Paper Museum, West Terminal and Seka Park. The overpass, which has a length of 81,7 meters and a platform width of 3,3 meters, also has 65 elevators for the use of disabled citizens over the age of 2.

ONGOING PROJECTS IN 2021

In addition to the giant projects completed in 2020, the projects that started in 2020 and continued in 2021 continue at full speed. Gebze, TEM highway bridges connection roads 1st stage, Karamürsel City Square Bridge Interchange, Kocaeli Congress Center and Education Campus Tram Stations Pedestrian Overpass Bridge, Kuruçeşme Tram Line, Kartepe Cable Car Project are among the giant projects planned to be completed in 2021.

KÖRFEZ DISTRICT İLİMTEPE CONNECTION ROAD 1st STAGE

The 5,2st phase works of the 1-kilometer road, starting from the Körfez district Yeni Yalı District and leading to the İlimtepe District, started. Within the scope of the works where the foundation piles of the viaduct started to be driven, a highway crossing bridge will be built for the connection to Çamlıtepe Mahallesi. Within the scope of the 1st stage, the road starting from Anadolu Döküm Junction will be connected to Yunus Emre Street by passing through the TEM via a viaduct. As part of the first stage, the road starting from D-100 Yeni Yalı Mahallesi will pass through Çamlıtepe and Yavuz Sultan Selim Neighborhoods. A crossing bridge will be built so that the road can pass from south to north. Within the scope of the 120st stage, which has a length of 1 meters, 800 meters of stream improvement and passage culverts are planned.

GEBZE, TEM HIGHWAY BRIDGES CONNECTION ROADS STAGE 1

Within the scope of the project implemented jointly by the Metropolitan Municipality with the General Directorate of Highways, one-way continuous, side roads are being built parallel to the TEM Highway in the north and south. Within the scope of the project, culverts, junction arms and 13 kilometers of side roads are being constructed. Within the scope of the project, which will greatly ease the transportation network in the region, 4 new bridges will be built by the General Directorate of Highways. Tembelova and Kirazpınar Bridges, which currently serve as 3 lanes at the motorway location between Kirazpınar Neighborhood and Sultan Orhan, İnönü and Arapçeşme Neighborhoods, will be demolished and rebuilt with four lanes. Within the scope of the project, two new bridges with 3 lanes to the west of Tembelova Bridge and 3 lanes to the east of Kirazpınar Bridge will be built.

KARAMURSEL KENT SQUARE BRIDGE INTERCHANGE

The work continues at the Karamürsel crossing of the D-130 Highway, which is one of the important routes of intercity passenger and logistics transportation, at the Karamürsel City Square Interchange, which was built by the Metropolitan Municipality. intercity transportation will also relax.

CONGRESS CENTER AND TRAINING CAMPUS TRAM STATIONS PEDESTRIAN OVERPASS BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION

The overpass will be 63 meters long and 3,5 meters wide, and there will be 65 elevators for the disabled and pedestrians over 2 years of age, so that citizens coming off the tram stop can pass to the Congress Center and Sekapark area. The Education Campus pedestrian overpass will be 45 meters long and 3,5 wide.

KURUÇEŞME TRAM LINE

The tram line to be built between Plajyolu Kuruçeşme will pass through the D-100 from the Sahilyolu stop to the Kuruçeşme intersection with a 332 meter steel tram bridge, and a total of 812 meters of double-line tram line, 1 station and 2 pedestrian bridges will be built. The existing D-100 going to Istanbul direction will be connected from the offices of Izmit western toll booths and Kuruçeşme intersection will be rearranged. To provide the energy of the line, 1 Transformer center will be established. The existing roads on the route of the tram line and the West Highway entrance in the Izmit-Istanbul direction will be renewed and the infrastructures on the route will be displaced within the scope of this project.

KARTEPE CABLE CAR PROJECT

The cable car line to be built between Hikmetiye Kuzu Yayla will be approximately 4.7 km long, consists of 2 stations in total and will operate in both directions. The elevation difference between the stations is approximately 1090 meters and will consist of 10-person cabins with single-strand detachable terminal blocks. On the other hand, important investments are made in many important routes such as Darıca Aşıroğlu Street and Cengiz Topel Avenue. Not only the city center roads but also all the village roads are being modernized in a way that is suitable for Kocaeli, where citizens can make their transportation with peace of mind.
