Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which carries out important works in the name of city culture, keeps alive the memory of Benzinci Kör Hafız, one of the symbol names of Kemeraltı bazaar, with a statue. The statue, made in memory of Mustafa Ayrıközü, who lived by filling lighters with gasoline for 60 years, was placed at the entrance of the National Library Street in Kemeraltı.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which has adopted the principle of bringing Izmir together with sculptures appropriate to its identity, did not forget the late Mustafa Ayrıközü, who was one of the symbol names of Kemeraltı and known as "Gasoline Blind Hafız". For nearly 60 years, the statue of Gasoline Blind Hafız, who continued his life by filling lighters with gasoline in the first years and gas in the following years, was completed at the entrance of the Government House of Kemeraltı Bazaar. The statue was placed at the intersection of Anafartalar Street, which is the closest point to where Mustafa Ayrıközü worked for 60 years, in Kemeraltı, and Milli Kütüphane Street.

Kemeraltı is also important with its symbol names

Izmir sculptor Can Akdaş made the statue, which aims to keep alive the memory of Benzinci Kör Hafız, who died in 1997 and was one of the symbolic names of the Kemeraltı bazaar with his visual impairment and stories told about him. The statue aims to convey to new generations that Kemeraltı is an important part of the city's culture not only with its historical buildings but also with its tradesmen and symbol names. Sculpture work also refers to the sense of belonging to the city, human-space relationship and loyalty. For years, city historians, artists and shopkeepers representatives have been calling for the memory of Benzinci Kör Hafız, which is engraved in the memories of middle-aged and older Izmir residents.
