The deputy also reminded the Ministry of the "Touristic West Express" proposal, which he had previously met with TCDD senior management, and made the following statements regarding the issues in his motion:
“While TCDD General Directorate of Transport has been cautiously continuing its YHT flights within the scope of coronavirus measures, it has stopped mainline and regional train services for about nine months.
Our regional trains operating on the Karabük - Zonguldak and Gökçebey - Zonguldak lines are among the flights that have been stopped with the measures taken.
Undoubtedly, the transportation sector is one of the sectors most affected by the coronavirus epidemic.
However, while continuing its activities in this sector, airline transport, road transport, taking appropriate protective measures (reduction in the number of passengers transported, sparse seating planning that preserves social distance, masks, disinfection arrangements, etc.) in line with the recommendations of the scientific board, railway transport was stopped.
We asked the Minister of Transport whether this means of transportation, which is used by thousands of people and is highly demanded in our region, can be realized by taking precautions, just like YHT flights.
In addition, we asked the Ministry whether there is any planning for the re-commissioning of the Zonguldak - Karabük - Ankara line, which operated with the "Black Diamond Express" in recent years.
We have investigated that there is no infrastructural obstacle in the commissioning of this line and there is sufficient demand.
On the other hand, as we suggested to the TCDD senior management, just as in the example of the touristic east express operating on the Ankara - Kars line, a "Touristic West Express" project, which will operate on the Zonguldak - Karabük - Ankara line, has the potential to become one of the most beautiful routes in the world. and it can be a great achievement for our country.
We reminded the Ministry of Transport to evaluate this proposal in coordination with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, tour operators and other stakeholders.
