Stating that vitamin B12 is an important vitamin for the body, Dr. Fevzi Özgönül stated that if this vitamin is deficient, memory problems can be experienced and it also causes anemia.

Dr. Fevzi Özgönül said that vitamin B12 fulfills two very important functions in our body and continued his words as follows;

1- His first task; It is involved in the production of blood cells in the bone marrow. If there is not enough vitamin B12 in our body for the production of blood cells, the blood cells produced at that time will be of poor quality and weak, and the complaint of anemia begins. If you have anemia, vitamin B12 deficiency should also be checked. Sometimes iron treatment alone is not sufficient in the treatment of anemia, as well as B12 supplementation.

2- The second important task is to help nerve cells, especially nerve cells in the brain, to create, store and transmit information. If we do not have enough B12 in our body, then these tasks cannot be fulfilled and forgetfulness begins. We often cannot remember events or persons, their names, which we used to easily remember. Sometimes we have a hard time transmitting the information we know to others. You know, on the tip of my tongue, but we say I can't remember. Here, the main culprit of all these problems is vitamin B12 deficiency.

Unfortunately, vitamin B12 cannot be produced by our body and must be taken from outside. Vitamin B12, which we take with food, must also be absorbed from the digestive system without any problem, but it can be used by our body after these procedures.

The main source of vitamin B12 is animal protein. People who do not eat animal protein or consume too much bread and pastry foods and try to get protein from legumes instead of meat will definitely have vitamin B12 deficiency. It is known among the public that pulses and grains contain plenty of B vitamins, but the situation that is missed here is not B-group vitamins, but B12 vitamins, so there is no vitamin B12 in vegetables, salads, fruits, sugary foods, bakery foods, cereals and pulses group foods.

Dr. Fevzi Özgönül listed the best foods to take vitamin B12 as follows;

Seafood: the most vitamin B12 is found in fish roe, mackerel, salmon, sardines and tuna also contain high vitamin B12

Meats: Lamb liver, beef liver, beef liver, turkey, duck and foie gras are also foods high in B12. Beef, veal and lamb are also foods rich in B12 as well as zinc and iron.

Cheese and eggs are also high in B12, as well as protein and calcium.
