Soviet Russia was running some crazy projects, and this turbo train project is just one of them. Let's examine what happened in this project.
It was decided that the desired speed for this monster would be approximately 360 km / h. It was able to successfully reach a record speed of 250 km / h in trials on Soviet standard railways. However, this project was abandoned due to the high fuel consumption of the jet engines that were eventually included in the train. Of course, the soviets would not be pleased if these engines consume more fuel than jet planes.
It is long to believe, but until recently, the construction of the turbo train was lost until it could be discovered in a rusted railroad junkyard. These pictures show us the latest state of the beast, the fastest turbo train built between 1960-1970. A technological breakthrough was expected during its construction.
