Thus, the accidents that could be caused by falling rocks and ice masses in the monastery were prevented.

Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality will implement the cable car line, which will be approximately 2,5 kilometers long, with the build, operate, transfer model. In the project, a cable car line with 40-person wagons will be established. The project, which will consist of 2 stations, will cost 150 million lira. The first leg of the Sümela Monastery cable car project starts from the parking lot, in other words from the inside of the valley, and reaches a point that is far from Sümela but higher. In the project, viewing terraces, eating and drinking places, walking areas were prepared in that area. The second leg carries visitors to a point close to Sümela, so the two-stop cable car system. At the first stop, there will be an area that offers completely different beauties such as scenery, viewing terraces, walking paths and restaurants where you can easily spend 3-4 hours. You can get on the cable car again, get off at a very close point to the second stop, Sümela Monastery, and go to Sümela from there.

Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Murat Zorluoğlu stated that there are a few investors interested in the project with a cost of approximately 100-150 million TL and said, “We hope that a few serious investors are in contact with us, and we will hold the tender for that area in a short time. If there was no pandemic process, we might have contracted this business, but this process inevitably affected the investors. Therefore, we hope that we will hold this tender in the first 2021 months of 6.
