Covid-19 vaccine cooperation agreement was signed between Chinese Sinovac, known for its CoronaVac vaccine, and Malaysia's public pharmaceutical organization Pharmaniaga. Under the contract, Sinovac will progressively provide Malaysia with 14 million unprocessed Covid-19 vaccines and will cooperate with Pharmaniaga to complete the final production of the vaccine in Malaysia.

Khairy Jamaluddin, Malaysia's Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, said at a press conference following the online signing ceremony that this collaboration will help the Malaysian government to provide sufficient Covid-19 vaccines and increase Malaysia's ability to research and manufacture vaccines.

Noting that the Malaysian government is satisfied with the data of the clinical trials of the vaccine developed by Sinovac, Jamaluddin said that they will soon sign a vaccine purchase contract with Sinovac and Pharmaniaga and that Malaysia's drug control agency will approve the use of the vaccine as soon as possible. The Covid-19 outbreak remains serious in Malaysia. Prime Minister Perdana Menteri said in a statement yesterday that Malaysian King Sultan Abdullah approved the nationwide emergency decision.
