In 2020, a total of 5 freight trains passed through Alataw Strait, an important railway station of China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. This number sets a new record. The train carrying electronic products, clothes and other goods from Alataw to Malaszewicze in Poland on Wednesday became the 5th thousandth freight train passing through this strait this year.
Alataw Strait customs official Xu Yueheng explained that the China-Europe freight trains passing through there contributed to the global fight against the Covid-19 outbreak, especially by providing the supply chain of countries and regions on the Belt and Road route.
Alataw Strait started its China-Europe rail link service in 2011. Currently, 13 lines are passing from this important station to 22 countries, including Germany and Poland. According to Xu, among the imported goods transported by these trains are automobiles and spare parts, timber and cotton thread; household appliances and primary necessities are among the exported goods.
