ISTANBUL AIRPORT COURT FACILITATES THE CITIZEN'S JOB
At the courthouse at Istanbul Airport, which hosts millions of domestic and foreign passengers a year, the prosecutor's office has been operating since February 10, 2020, and the Criminal Courts of First Instance 21 and 22 since July 24, 2020.
Courts at Istanbul Airport Courthouse, a unit of Gaziosmanpaşa Courthouse, serve 7 hours a day, 24 days a week.
At the courts, proceedings regarding the prosecution's arrest warrants, investigations of crimes committed at the airport, execution of final decisions and fines are carried out. Thanks to the fact that transactions are carried out at the airport, passengers do not waste time and do not miss their planes.
Those who had come to the airport for their travels before, who needed legal action, were taken to Gaziosmanpaşa Courthouse. Those who had a judicial procedure at night were taken to the courthouse the next morning.
Arrests due to the failure of the judicial service units to serve after a certain hour was thus prevented. It was enabled to intervene in the events taking place at the airport in a rapid manner and to collect evidence, and to receive the complaints of the victims immediately.
As of February 10, 2020, when the airport started to be served, approximately 3 thousand 500 people were subject to arrest warrant and approximately 2 thousand 100 people were investigated. Thus, the victimization of over 5 thousand people was prevented. Thanks to the application, while the justice services were carried out without interruption, the work of the citizens became easier.
This year, it is aimed to extend the application to other airports.
