Ordu Metropolitan Municipality is preparing to invest 50 million lira in Ünye Port, which will provide convenience at the point of export to the Black Sea countries and Turkic Republics.
Ordu Metropolitan Municipality, Mayor Dr. Under the leadership of Mehmet Hilmi Güler, it started a work to create a port that is larger than the 6 country ports bordering the Black Sea and will become a leader on the entire Black Sea coast.
THE CAPACITY OF UNYE PORT WILL BE INCREASED
The contract has not been renewed with the private firm, which has been carrying out loading and unloading operations at Ünye Port, which was owned by the Metropolitan Municipality in the first place and expired. The Metropolitan Municipality, which undertakes all the operations to be carried out at the port, has started the first work to increase the capacity of Ünye Port and renew the equipment in accordance with the technology, through its affiliate company ORBEL.
THE NUMBER OF LOADING-UNLOADING RIMS INCREASES TO 4
In this context, 1 berth of the port will be increased to 4. A second dock with a depth of 6.5 meters is being built next to the existing loading-unloading dock, which is currently 8 meters deep. With the completion of this work, the number of ships waiting in the open will decrease.
Subsequently, ground scanning will be carried out in order to increase the depth of the port and to allow high tonnage ships to arrive. With this work, the depth of the port will be increased to 10 meters.
CONTAINER AREA AND RO-RO, SILO STORAGES ARE BUILT
In order to increase the capacity of the port and reveal the container port of the future, filling work was started in the section where the breakwater is located. The 380 decare area, which is the first leg of Ünye Port, will be filled with 80 decares in the first place. Container, silo storage, Ro-Ro area, bulk cargo and storage area will be built on this 80-acre area.
THE GAIN WILL BE SPENT TO THE PORT
Ordu Metropolitan Municipality will spend all the revenues from the port management for the development of the port and new investment areas. Thus, the revenue obtained will be converted into investment. With the development of the port, the number and capacity of ship loading and unloading will increase, and new business opportunities will emerge in the field of transportation and transportation. 1.5 million lira will be invested in these works, which are expected to be completed within 50 years.
In addition to these, the Metropolitan Municipality announced that the private company, which had previously carried out loading and unloading operations and whose working period has expired, can employ the existing personnel in order not to be unemployed.
UNYEPORT'S DREAM COMES TO REAL
After the completion of these works, a 2500 meter long breakwater will be built in a more open area within the scope of the Ünyeport Project as a continuation of the port. The number of berths will be increased in the port, whose depth will be 14 meters. Ünye, Ordu and Turkey will be one of the prestigious project ünye Container Port (Port Unye), will affect the entire Black Sea region and will serve the Turkish republic will be brought into the container port.
