In two separate operations carried out by the Customs Enforcement Team of the Ministry of Commerce at the Habur Customs Gate, a total of 29 thousand packs of smuggled cigarettes and 253 mobile phones were seized, which were placed in the hidden compartments of the vehicles with the help of a mechanism.

In the first operation carried out within the scope of anti-smuggling activities carried out by the Habur Customs Protection, Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate, a truck that was deemed risky as a result of the analysis was scrutinized. First of all, suspicious density was found in the floor part of the trailer of the truck, which was sent for x-ray scanning. These sections were opened after the detector dogs reacted to the suspicious parts of the truck.

It was understood that a mechanism was established with the help of ropes placed in the opened sections and the illegal cigarettes were hidden. As a result of the ropes being pulled, tens of thousands of packs of smuggled cigarettes were removed from secret compartments. As a result of the operation, 500 thousand packs of counterfeit cigarettes with a market value of approximately 29 thousand liras were seized.

In another operation carried out by the Customs Enforcement teams, it was determined that a similar method was used by mobile phone smugglers. After the accurate analysis of the Customs Enforcement teams, the vehicle containing the illegal mobile phones in its secret compartment was detected.

After the X-ray scan, the location of the mobile phones in the vehicle was determined. When these regions were opened, a total of 820 mobile phones with a market value of approximately 253 thousand liras were seized.
