Aliye Berger (born December 24, 1903, Büyükada - Date of death August 9, 1974, Büyükada), Turkish engraving and graphic artist, painter.

Turkey is one of the first scraping and carving engraving artist. The artist, who made his name known to the wider art circles by winning the painting contest organized by Yapı Kredi Bank in 1954, is known for his expressive engraving prints.

He was born on 24 December 1903 in Büyükada. His father is Kabaağaçlızade Mehmed Şakir Pasha and his mother is Sare İsmet Hanım from Crete. Brother of the writer Halikarnas Balıkçısı and painter Fahrünnisa Zeyd; Ceramic artist Füreya Koral is the aunt of theater player Şirin Devrim and painter Nejat Devrim.

He was educated at Notre Dame de Sion French High School. He took painting and piano lessons. In 1924, the Hungarian violin virtuoso and pedagogue Karl Berger took the course in Turkey. The couple, whose relationship turned into love, lived together for twenty-three years.

From 1935 to 1939, he followed art movements in Berlin and Paris, staying with his brother Fahrünnisa Zeyd. In 1947, Karl married Alice Berger Berger, six months after his wife lost in London, John Buckland Wright's increasingly worked in sculpture and engraving workshop, in 1951, returned to Turkey opened its first solo exhibition with 150 engravings.

He won the first prize with his first oil painting work titled “Sunrise” in the “Business and Istihsal” competition organized by Yapı Kredi Bank for the congress of the International Association of Art Critics held in Istanbul in 1954. The artist received the second prize at the 2nd Tehran Biennial the following year.

Although Aliye Berger made drawings and oil paintings, she mostly produced works in carving, in intermediate tones of black and white. Using sandpaper, butcher paper and cheesecloth as materials, the artist reflected the patterns of daily life and various corners of Istanbul with an original lyricism and expressionism, sometimes realistic and sometimes fantastic. During his lifetime, he held twelve special exhibitions in various cities of the world and participated in forty eight group exhibitions.

The artist passed away on August 9, 1974 in Büyükada.

His works have been exhibited various times after his death. The biggest ones are the exhibition held at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts between October 16 and November 1, 1975 and the exhibition organized by Yapı Kredi Bank between February 11 and March 6, 1988. Four of the artist's works are exhibited in the Istanbul Painting and Sculpture Museum and three in the Albertina Museum. On his 117th birthday, he was remembered by Google with a doodle.
