Adil Karaismailoğlu, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, attended the 10th Meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Transport Ministers via video-conference method. At the meeting, all aspects of cooperation in the field of transportation, especially keeping the supply chain open under the COVID-19 epidemic, were discussed. It was also emphasized at the meeting that it is of great importance to widen the transportation corridors so that transportation and transportation can be carried out without interruption.
A consensus was reached on the smooth transportation of all commodities subject to foreign trade.
In the field of road transport, which is the most important mode of transport in trade between member countries, a consensus has been reached among the member countries on the smooth transportation of all goods subject to foreign trade, especially pharmaceuticals and foodstuffs. An important decision was made at the meeting and it was decided to reopen the Istanbul-Tehran-Islamabad Freight Train at the beginning of 2021. With the commissioning of this train, it was emphasized that besides container transportation on the route, freight transportation can also be carried out with conventional wagons.

Minister Karaismailoglu, in his speech at the meeting, called for the removal of all kinds of obstacles in international freight transportation; secretion, however, a section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line that the cargo transported by road record and transmit the information provided by Turkey's capacity expansion by taking the necessary measures.

Minister Karaismialoğlu emphasized that within the framework of the ECO Transit Transport Framework Agreement, they have always defended that the fees collected from transportation within the ECO should be abolished, and continued as follows:
“We believe that the quota application in bilateral and transit transports should be abolished in order to make transportation more efficient and regional development. In this context, we support all kinds of efforts to liberalize bilateral and transit transports. It is important to maintain your interruption in the supply chain in order for the economies of the country to survive and the fight against COVID-19 to continue. I hope that practices such as PCR test application and transfer obligation applied in some ECO countries will be reviewed. "
