The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure announced: The field acceptance studies of Turkey's first Domestic and National Surveillance Radar (MGR) at Gaziantep Airport have been completed.
The Ministry announced that the National Surveillance Radar, which is the first Domestic and National PSR (Primary Surveillance Radar) system of our country, has been completed and will be put into service after the completion of the continuity tests.
In the statement, he underlined that the system developed within the scope of the "National Surveillance Radar / SSR MODE-S Research and Development Project" will meet the needs of the country in this field and eliminate foreign dependency.
The country's first domestic and national PSR system
The statement made by the Ministry, Turkey's first civil aviation purposes approach radar system of the National Surveillance Radar (MGR) conducted in Gaziantep Airport area reported that completion of the agreed work. In addition, it was stated that the National Surveillance Radar, which is among the important R&D projects of the General Directorate of State Airports Authority, is the first domestic and national PSR (Primary Surveillance Radar) system of the country, will be put into service after the continuity tests are completed.
Developed in Cooperation with DHMİ and TÜBİTAK
While underlining in the statement of the Ministry that the National Surveillance Radar (MGR) was developed in cooperation with the General Directorate of State Airports Authority and TÜBİTAK; He emphasized that the system developed within the scope of the "National Surveillance Radar / SSR MODE-S Research and Development Project" will also provide primary and secondary surveillance radar functions in air traffic control services.
The statement stated that the domestic and national system, which will be used as a surveillance tool in the successfully managed 1 million km2 Turkish Airspace, will meet the needs of the country in this field and will eliminate foreign dependency. On the other hand, within the scope of the same project, it was informed that the integration of the SSR MODE-S system, which is also being developed by national means, continues and this work will be completed in 2022.
The Ministry also shared the information that, thanks to MGR, which was designed in accordance with EUROCONTROL recommendations and also meets the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), imported systems will be replaced by systems developed with domestic resources.
