Being the 4th largest hydroelectric power plant of our country, Ilısu Prof. Dr. Stating that Veysel Eroğlu Dam started to produce electricity at full capacity, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Bekir Pakdemirli said that with the dam, an annual contribution of 2,8 billion liras will be made to the national economy.

Having the world's largest body in its class and being the 4th largest hydroelectric power plant of our country, Ilısu Prof. Dr. Minister Pakdemirli stated that the first turbine in the Veysel Eroğlu Dam and HEPP was commissioned on May 19, 2020, with a ceremony attended by our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan via video conference. “In the first place, the turbine with an installed power of 200 MW started production with this ceremony”.

Approximately 7 Billion 1 Million TL Contribution in 400 Months

Minister Pakdemirli emphasized that as of December 23, 2020, all 6 units of the dam were commissioned and the facility started energy production at full capacity, and announced that as of today, 2 billion kilowatt-hours of energy has been produced from the dam and a contribution of approximately 7 billion 1 million TL to the country's economy in 400 months.

2.8 Billion Lira Energy Production per Year

Underlining that with the commissioning of all 6 units, the dam will contribute 2.8 billion TL to the economy of the country in the upcoming period: “With 1 power plants with a total installed power of 200 6 MW, an average of 4.120 GWh of energy will be produced annually. The project will contribute to a cleaner and livable future with the green energy it will generate. In addition to this great energy production, a total of 765 decares of land in Nusaybin, Cizre, İdil, Silopi Plains are irrigated with modern techniques and 000 billion 1 million KWh of energy is produced annually with the water released to Cizre Dam, which is regulated in the Ilısu Dam and is planned to be built later. will be possible. When the Cizre Dam is completed, an additional annual income of 168 Billion TL will be achieved ”.

With a height of 135 meters from the foundation and a maximum lake volume of 10,625 billion m3, the Ilısu Dam is the second largest dam in our country after the Atatürk Dam with a body volume of 24 million m3. In addition, Ilısu Dam is in the first place in the world in terms of filling volume in Concrete Faced Rock Fill Dam type.
