Turkey's domestic high-resolution reconnaissance satellite Göktürk-2 has completed its 8th year in orbit. Produced in partnership with TÜBİTAK, the relevant institution of the Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Industry and Technology, TÜBİTAK Space and Turkish Aviation and Space Industry Inc. From the official twitter account of TÜBİTAK Space Technologies Research Institute (TÜBİTAK Space), it was stated that GÖKTÜRK-2 satellite has completed its 18th year.

Gokturk - 2

The system of Göktürk - 2 and the design, production and test stages of the task were carried out nationally. Our satellite, launched from China in 2012, is the first high-resolution earth observation satellite originally developed in our country. It settled in 12 km mission orbit 700 minutes after launch. Having a high level of reliability, GÖKTÜRK-2 satellite continues to send uninterrupted images to the Air Force Command Ahlatlıbel Ground Station since its launch on December 18, 2012.

The 2,5-meter resolution satellite, produced with a high native rate, was sent into space from the Jiuquan Launch Center in China. High technology domestic and national products such as infrared cameras, interface cards, image compression software and hardware, flight computer and x-band transmitter on GÖKTÜRK-2 satellite were developed by TÜBİTAK Space. Although GÖKTÜRK-2's design life is 5 years, it has been performing its duty for 8 years. High-level engineering measures applied in the design and production process play an important role in this success of the domestic satellite.
