In the last meeting of TARKEM before the new year, it was decided to start the e-Kemeraltı project, which will be the life water for Kemeraltı tradesmen who had a hard time due to the pandemic, the restoration of Tevfik Paşa Mansions in cooperation with the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and TARKEM, and the preparation of the restoration project for the 2nd Mansion of Foundations.

In the meeting, it was also decided to implement the e-Kemeraltı project, which will enable Kemeraltı tradesmen, who are going through difficult times due to the pandemic, to trade through the digital portal.

Soyer: Kemeraltı will be a leverage for the prosperity of the city

Making the opening speech of the meeting, Tunç President Soyer said that they are working with the aim of revitalizing the region from Konak Pier to Kadifekale. Stating that they will make an investment of 150 million TL to solve the infrastructure problem of the historical bazaar, Soyer said, “We went to the tender. Our company İZBETON took the tender. The most important phase of the Kemeraltı First Stage Interception study, which we started to collect the rainwater of Kemeraltı and its surroundings and transfer them to the Bay, is about to be completed. We have completed the infrastructure renovation works in Havra Street. Our work on the superstructure continues. The first awnings were installed. Our excavations continue at the Smyrna Antique Theater. On October 29, 2023, we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Republic at the ancient theater with an extraordinary concert. This region will not only increase the tourism potential of our city. It will reveal the historical city identity of Izmir, which we always refer to, will increase the awareness of Izmirism and Mediterraneanness, and will undertake a very serious leverage role in increasing the prosperity of our city ”.

UNESCO office is established

TARKEM General Manager Sergenç İneler stated that they carried out a series of works together with İzmir Metropolitan Municipality for the Izmir Historical Port City, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage Temporary List, to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage Permanent List, by opening the UNESCO office in the first week of the new year, ”Announced that they will prepare.
