According to the statement made by the Chinese National Space Agency, the Chinese spacecraft probe Chang'e-5 brought a sample weighing about 1 kilogram 731 grams from the Moon to the earth.
Zhang Kejian, head of the Chinese National Space Agency, delivered the samples to Hou Jianguo, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, at a ceremony held on Saturday, December 19.
Liu He congratulated those who accomplished the Chang'e-5 Lunar mission by promoting it as an important step in strengthening China's position on space. Liu demanded that inter-institutional cooperation be turned towards the process of studying and researching lunar samples, and suggested that Chinese wisdom should be included in the scientific understanding of the formation and evolution of the universe.
Samples from the Moon were then transported to the Academy's laboratory at the National Astronomical Observatory. After this stage, relevant scientists will undertake the functions of stocking, analyzing and examining the first sample of the country brought from a celestial body.
On the other hand, the Space Department will publish the path and practices followed for samples brought from the Moon by Chang'e-5 in order to coordinate and encourage scientific research, pave the way for more Chinese and foreign scientists to participate, and try to achieve more scientific results. The Department will also publicly direct programs that publicize science and organize cultural exchanges with regard to the lunar mission in question.
The Chang'e-5 mission is one of the most complex and challenging missions in Chinese space history. On the other hand, this mission ensured that a sample was taken from the Moon to the earth for the first time in 40 years.
