The discount rates valid until the end of the year in value added tax (VAT) rates in many service branches were extended until May 31, 2021.
President's Decree on the subject was published in the Official Gazette. With the decision, tax cuts will be applied temporarily in some services until the end of the year in order to contribute to the rapid normalization of economic activities affected by COVID-19.
Accordingly, the VAT rates applied in the provision of goods and services defined in the specified sectors and business lines will continue to be applied as 31 percent until 2021 May 8. The rates were reduced from 18 percent to 8 percent in July.
This sector and business lines, workplace rental service, congress, conference, seminar, concert, fair and funfair entrance fees, organization services provided in weddings, wedding, ball and cocktail halls, barbering and hairdressing services and services provided in the beauty salon, tailoring, clothing repair and repair of home textiles and home textile products, shoe and leather goods repair and shoe dyeing services, dry cleaning, laundry, clothing and other textile ironing services, and carpet and rug washing services.
