It was stated that after England, a different corona virus mutation was detected in the Republic of South Africa. According to the reports in the South African media, South African scientists stated that the new corona virus mutation is much more contagious and is spreading rapidly, just like in the UK.

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that they are in close contact with British officials regarding the mutation of the coronavirus (Kovid-19), which is stated to spread faster. Sylvie Briand, Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Epidemic Department, made statements about the faster spreading new type of Kovid-19 seen in the UK. Making a statement on the French channel, Briand said that WHO currently has no evidence that the newly emerging coronavirus will lead to higher death rates.

Leaping to the Netherlands, Denmark and Australia

The World Health Organization reported that the same mutation has also been seen in the Netherlands, Denmark and Australia. Hours after Britain's announcement of the new mutation, the first travel ban decision came from the Dutch government. The Netherlands announced that all passenger flights were banned until January 1. The government announced that it was banned "in order to minimize the risk of the new virus spreading to the Netherlands".

Different Viruses Appear in South Africa

It was stated that after England, a different coronavirus mutation was detected in the Republic of South Africa. According to reports in the South African media, South African scientists stated that the new coronavirus mutation is much more contagious and is spreading rapidly, just like in the UK.

The new type of virus that changed was first detected in September. Nearly a quarter of the cases detected in London in November are linked to the new type of virus. This rate rose to two-thirds of cases in mid-December. Authorities warned that the new breed was spreading much faster.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Saturday that the new strain could be up to 70 percent more contagious than the old one. Johnson stated that, according to preliminary data, this new strain detected could be up to 70 percent more contagious than the old one.

Johnson said there was no evidence that this new strain caused more severe disease or had a higher mortality rate.

In the report published by the European Center for Disease Control, it was stated that the mutated coronavirus was named "SARS-CoV-2 VUI 202012/01" for now.
