The 565th Anniversary of Haliç Shipyard, the oldest shipyard in the world, was celebrated with a ceremony. Tersane-i Amire, founded by Fatih Sultan Mehmet in 1455, has been serving since then. Speaking at the ceremony, City Lines General Manager Sinem Dedetaş said, "We have the rightful pride of owning, preserving and keeping this invaluable heritage that has been standing for more than 5,5 centuries."

The 565th anniversary of the founding of Tersane-i Amire, the heirloom of Fatih Sultan Mehmet, the oldest living and working shipyard in the world, was celebrated. In Haliç Shipyard, the last remaining shipyard from Tersane-i Amire, III. At the beginning of the Dry Pool built by Selim in 1790, a ceremony was held with the participation of Şehir Hatları AŞ employees. At the ceremony, Sinem Dedetaş, General Manager of Şehir Hatları AŞ, flashed the shipyard's age plate first.

Making a short speech, Dedataş drew attention to the fact that Shipyard continues to produce at full speed. Dedetaş said, “We carry the rightful pride of owning, preserving and preserving this invaluable heritage, which has been standing for more than 5,5 centuries, founded by Fatih Sultan Mehmet two years after the conquest of Istanbul. This place is also like an industrial museum. We have very old but still working machines. "We provide maintenance, attitude and repair services not only to our ships, but also to non-institutional ships, with three dry docks, two shipbuilding sleds, and vast experience and know-how."

The Oldest Retired Person Was Awarded with Appreciation Plaque

At the ceremony, a plaque of appreciation was presented to Dursun Bekçi (81), the oldest of the shipyard retirees, and to Mehmet Yazıcı, who has been working in the shipyard for 48 years, by Dedetaş. Dedetaş cut the birthday cake of the Shipyard with the watchman and Yazıcı.

The Center Where Modern Science Has Been Applied For The First Time

Two years after the conquest of Istanbul, Fatih Sultan Mehmet decided to establish the Tersane-i Amire in an area stretching from Kasımpaşa to Hasköy, where he launched his ships from land. Tersane-i Amire, whose foundation was laid on December 11, 1455 and was put into operation with several eye-building sleds in the same year, was also called Istanbul Shipyard since then. The shipyard became an industrial center where modern science was applied for the first time in the Ottoman Empire. The first of the active dry docks of the shipyard is III. Selim had it built in 1790. The second pool was put into use by Mahmut II in 1825. The construction of the third dry dock, the largest, was started in 1857 during the reign of Sultan Abdülmecit, but was completed in 1870 during the reign of Sultan Abdülaziz.
