The ski center in Hakkari's Merga Bütan Plateau will be opened to the visitors of ski lovers from the country and abroad with its 4-chairlift and the new track length that has been increased to 3 meters. Before the opening, the Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK) team also held a drill that required rescue against strands and accidents that may occur on the chair lift lines. With its track areas, it will be opened to the visitors of ski lovers from Turkey and abroad.
Completed with the support of the Eastern Anatolian Development Agency (DAKA) and the Special Provincial Administration, the length of the track, which was 1200 meters, was increased to 15 meters last year, with a cost of 3 million TL. This year, safety nets were built on the edges of the runway against injuries, while the damaged floors of the runway were also arranged and made ready for the season. Meanwhile, with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Hakkari Governorate, the construction of the 500-star hotel for the accommodation of athletes from Iran, Iraq and outside the province continues. While the work at Merga Butane Ski Center, where ski enthusiasts will be hosted during the winter months, was brought to the final stage, the Hakkari Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK) team organized a drill that required rescue against trapped and accidents that may occur on the chairlift lines. Citizens stuck on the chair lift due to the scenario were rescued by using rope systems. Exciting moments were experienced in the rescue exercise where all theoretical and practical information was exhibited.
Hakkari Youth Sports Provincial Director Emin Yıldırım said that the preparations for the new season in Hakkari Ski Center are continuing at full speed. Expressing that the ski center is bigger with the new chairlifts, Yıldırım said, “Today, experts came to obtain the operating license of the 2018 meters long chairlift we established in our ski center in 1165. They made an inspection here. We carried out a search and rescue operation in cooperation with both the 6-person search and rescue team that we established within our institution and the Gendarmerie Search and Rescue (JAK) team present here during the winter months. According to the scenario, the gendarmerie teams safely landed the 2 people stranded on the chairlift. ”The young man named Süleyman Akmaz, who was stuck with his friend due to the scenario, said that they were safely unloaded from the place where the JAK team carried out a successful operation.
