The tram line, which has become one of the important elements of environmentally friendly, economical and comfortable public transportation in İzmir, now extends to Çiğli. Speaking at the ceremony held in Izmir Art Theater Hall, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer stated that they plan to complete the line consisting of 11 stations, 14 kilometers in length, within two years. Karşıyaka Ataşehir-Mavişehir İzban connection, which is about 1 kilometer long, which could not be made during the construction of the tram, due to ownership problems, will also be made within the framework of the construction of this line.
With our projects such as the Buca metro, which is the biggest investment in the history of İzmir, the Narlıdere subway under construction, the Karabağlar-Gaziemir subway, which is currently under construction, and the Çiğli Tramway that brings us together today, we continue to weave İzmir with iron nets. These projects aiming at safe and comfortable public transportation will significantly ease İzmir transportation ”.

Pointing out that they act with the vision of the least cost and the most benefit in transportation, Soyer said: “'Another Transport is Possible' and we are implementing a comprehensive planning, modern and innovative transportation alternatives to solve the growing transportation problems in our city.
