Academic Lomonosov, the world's only floating nuclear power plant (FNPP), was chosen the best nuclear power plant of the year by the jury of the 2020 nuclear power plant competition and won the prestigious 'Asian Power Awards'.
The floating power unit Akadem Lomonosov is located in Pevek, in the Chukotka Autonomous Region in the far east of Russia. With this position, FNPP is the northernmost nuclear power plant in the world. In addition to generating electricity, FNPP also supplies heat to the Pevek grid. In the future, FNPP will also meet the capacity generated by the disabled Chaun-Bilibino Energy Center.
