Why Didn't Ada Express Flights Start Yet?

CHP Kocaeli Deputy and Party Assembly Member Tahsin Tarhan brought the fate of Ada Express, which operates between Adapazarı and Istanbul, to the agenda of the TGNA.

Tarhan, who referred to the grievance of the people of the region in the question asked to be answered in writing by Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, continued his words as follows: “There has been a daily train service between Adapazarı and Istanbul for more than a century since 1899. Ada Express is the name of a tradition in transportation for the residents of Sakarya, Kocaeli and Istanbul Anatolian sides. Many people would come and go to work and school by this train. Unfortunately, on March 28 this year, train services were canceled due to the Pandemic. Since then, the flights have not restarted despite the intense demand of our citizens in the region. TCDD keeps its silence. "

Everything Is Normalized, Except The Island Express

The problems with Ada Express actually existed before the pandemic. Namely, Adapazarı-Istanbul line daily train services were temporarily terminated on 1 February 2012, citing YHT road construction works. Ada Express Train, which carries passengers intensively between the cities of Sakarya, Kocaeli and Istanbul, was put into operation again on 15. Before the effect of this positive step lasted long, train services were stopped again. According to Tarhan, “Ada Express did not start operating, although travel restrictions between cities were lifted and public transportation returned to normal. It is not possible to understand this attitude. There is a serious public damage due to the lack of train services. Moreover, while daily buses continue from Adapazarı and Kocaeli to Istanbul, the failure to operate the train line prevents the citizens' right to travel cheaply. Train is always a reasonable option for people who don't want to travel by bus. Why is this option taken away from our citizens?
