Submarine Information Distribution System (DBDS) productions performed by HAVELSAN were successfully carried out for 6 submarines.

Within the scope of the project initiated by the Defense Industry Presidency based on the need of the Naval Forces Command, the development of DBDS for the first submarine was initiated in September 2011. For the development, production and testing of DBDS systems, a Hardware and Embedded Software Development team of 9 people worked in HAVELSAN for 20 years.

Following the successful completion of the last factory acceptance tests, the submarine information distribution systems of TCG Piri Reis, TCG Hızır Reis, TCG Murat Reis, TCG Aydın Reis, TCG Seydiali Reis and TCG Selman Reis submarines were completed.

The Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, Presidency of Defense Industry announced that the Submarine Information Distribution System (DBDS) produced by HAVELSAN in the New Type Submarine Project was successfully performed for 2020 submarines as of November 6. Defense Industry President Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir said in a statement on social media,

“We have successfully completed another project. In our New Type Submarine Project, all of the Submarine Information Distribution System (DBDS) productions were successfully carried out for 6 of our submarines. I congratulate everyone who has passed the test." made statements.

It was stated that the last of the Submarine Information Distribution System (DBDS) production, which was stated to be started with TCG Piri Reis in April 2018, was produced for TCG Selman Reis in November 2020, and production for a total of 6 submarines was completed. The submarines in which the said production was completed are as follows:

  • April 2018 - TCG Piri Reis
  • September 2018 - TCG Hızır Reis
  • December 2018 - TCG Murat Reis
  • February 2019 - TCG Aydın Reis
  • November 2019 - TCG Seydiali Reis
  • November 2020 - TCG Selman Reis

In the statements made by HAVELSAN regarding the subject, “We have successfully completed the Submarine Information Distribution Systems (DBDS) of all submarines in the New Type Submarine Project. In DBDS, we increased the targeted 70 percent domestic contribution to 75 percent. We are proud, we are happy. " statements took place.

Submarine Information Distribution System

In the New Type Submarine Project; It is aimed that 6 submarines with air-independent propulsion system will be built under the Gölcük Shipyard Command with the maximum participation of the Turkish industry. Defined as the heart of the submarine, DBDS was developed as an original product of HAVELSAN in order to meet the very demanding criteria of the submarine operating environment. With its newly added capabilities, DBDS has also managed to get ahead of its counterparts around the world.

Within the scope of the needs of the Naval Forces Command, a data recording system integrated with DBDS was designed, hardware and software updates for new functions were completed on time and subjected to testing.

Submarine Information Distribution Systems, which were procured from foreign companies in the past, could be developed by HAVELSAN engineers according to the needs, and innovations were easily added to the system.

Thanks to DBDS, which plays a key role in the integration of the Submarine Combat System consisting of weapons, sensors and Command Control System, it will be possible for REIS class submarines to navigate more safely and perform their operational missions in the most efficient way, thanks to the redundant and uninterrupted data flow.

With the features of the new Submarine Information Distribution System, it will be possible to continuously record and store all mission-critical data flowing through the system during operations for at least 50 days. In addition, it will be possible to examine important data recorded in the operation on the ship or on the shore.

DBDS to Pakistan Navy

In 2019, DBDS, which attracted the attention of foreign submarine construction and modernization programs with its advanced features, was also decided to be used in the modernization of the existing AGOSTA class submarines in the Pakistan Navy inventory. Factory and Port Acceptance Tests were successfully completed, and the Marine Acceptance Test phase was reached.

The Submarine Information Distribution System is the third member of the Ship Data Distribution Systems product family, which was produced by HAVELSAN engineers as a result of the original design studies and won the TESID Innovation and Creativity competition in 2012 and patented in 2013. In addition, DBDS was registered as a HAVELSAN brand at the Turkish Patent Institute in 2014.

In the Submarine Information Distribution System, which is completely locally produced from design to integration, the domestic contribution rate, which is envisaged as 70% under the DBDS contract, has reached the level of 75% today.

DBDS, which has been subjected to long and comprehensive endurance tests since it will be used in the harsh environmental conditions on the submarine, passed all tests successfully.

Submarine Information Distribution System is one of the three project packages realized by HAVELSAN for the New Type (REIS Class) Submarine program, one of the most important defense projects of our country.
