The wagon of a derailed subway in the Netherlands was suspended from the tail of a plastic whale statue after it crossed the safety barrier.

In the metro accident that passed the De Akkers station in the Spijkenisse region of Rotterdam, the driver of the vehicle escaped unharmed, while the country's media reported that it was a "miracle" that the subway was suspended 10 meters above the pedestrian road prevented a great disaster, and that there were no casualties in the accident. It was also stated that there were no passengers in the wagons because it was the last stop.

The first aid unit explained that the operation in the region will take time, but other trains can continue their voyages using the same rails.

On the other hand, the cause of the train accident has not yet been determined.

Two tail sculptures emerging from the water, Save by the Whale's Tail, were erected in De Akkers station in 2002.
