The emergency drills carried out at the airports under the coordination of Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (RFF) units did not look like the truth.

The RFF teams, who successfully performed rescue, emergency aid and effective accident-break response tasks in the exercises completed in many airports and some of them continued, impressed with their superior performance.

While the ARFF teams give confidence with the latest technology tools, materials and equipment they use in the exercises, they have shown that they are ready for the task 7/24 with their success in responding to incidents.

“In an emergency there is no second chance. For this reason, everything should be done correctly and in a planned way from the first moment ”, RFF units are ready to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day.

HOW IS EMERGENCY PLANS PREPARED?

In accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) rules, it is compulsory to prepare emergency plans of airports. This duty has been given to airport operators with the legislation in force in our country.

In this context, the RFF units have undertaken the coordination task for the preparation of emergency plans at the airports operated by DHMI.

Emergency Plans; It is based on Command, Communication and Coordination. With the help of all airport stakeholders and the institutions and organizations with whom the protocol has been signed, it is essential to save lives against emergencies that may occur at the airports and to carry out the necessary works to quickly return to the flight activities of the airport.

At our airports in order to increase the cooperation between institutions and organizations by testing the functionality of the plan within the framework of Emergency Plans; Tabletop exercises are held every 6 months, partial exercises with a narrow scope once a year, and exercises with broad participation every 1 years.
