Bursa will have a say in composite technologies with IKMAMM

The Advanced Composite Materials Research and Excellence Center (IKMAMM) was established by the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) in order to contribute to the sustainability of the sectors that produce and use advanced composite materials and to strengthen the R&D infrastructure of the sector. The center, which was realized with an investment of 17 million lira in Demirtaş Organized Industrial Zone, will serve industrialists both as an R&D and test center.

İKMAMM, which was established by BTSO with the support of Bursa Eskişehir Bilecik Development Agency (BEBKA), within the structure of Bursa Technology Coordination and R&D Center (BUTEKOM), was opened with the participation of Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank. IKMAMM, which will play a critical role in the transition of Bursa industry to technological products with high added value and sectoral transformation, aims to make Bursa a technology base in the field of composite materials, which are considered as the technology of the future.

PROTOTYPE INFRASTRUCTURE WITH 20 DIFFERENT TESTS, 5 DIFFERENT METHODS

IKMAMM, which will lead R&D studies in the sector, will serve in a wide range of expertise from prototype production to testing and analysis activities. Offering prototype infrastructure with 20 different tests and 5 different methods in the field of composites, the center draws attention especially with its strong equipment in the field of sample production. In the center, there are devices such as clean room, autoclave, RTM molding, thermo-plastic molding presses, curing oven, pre-preg machine for composite materials.

TURKEY'S MOST COMPREHENSIVE BURNING LABORATORY

Turkey's combustion laboratory located in one of the most comprehensive İKMAMM, rail systems, made in Turkey will enable the testing of combustion equipment used in the automotive and aerospace industries. Industrialists will be able to carry out these tests, which they previously had to carry out abroad at high costs, with much more affordable costs, quickly and reliably at İKMAMM.

SUPPORT FOR UNIVERSITY-INDUSTRY COOPERATION

IKMAMM will undertake an important mission in terms of developing university-industry cooperation. The center will allow companies that produce composite materials to develop specific projects within the scope of university-industry cooperation. The Ministry of Industry and Technology will provide technical support to 3 SMEs from IKMAMM in the next 25 years to develop and commercialize advanced technology products. In addition, within the scope of TÜBİTAK Industry-Doctorate Program, 23 PhD students will work together with the HRMAMM team, which are experts in R&D and production processes.

"A NEW MODEL ORGANIZING THE COMPOSITE INDUSTRY"

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the center with GUHEM, Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank said that composite materials will be used extensively in many sectors such as automotive, textile, defense, aviation and rail systems in the coming years, as they are high-strength and environmentally friendly. Noting that developing composite materials requires a very serious knowledge and R&D infrastructure, Minister Varank said, “We established IKMAMM so that the Bursa industry can acquire new capabilities in developing these materials. Firms will have the opportunity to develop R&D, which they cannot perform in-house, by using the infrastructures here. We need to see this place not only as a research center but also as a new model organizing the composite industry. We will accelerate the commercial development of companies through the center channel. Therefore, we are bringing an infrastructure that offers much more than R&D. In other words; We both improve the existing capabilities of the industry and enable it to acquire new capabilities. said.

"AN INVESTMENT MADE IN BURSA'S FUTURE"

Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman İbrahim Burkay said that since the day they took office, they took decisive steps with the aim of creating a leading Bursa that produces high technology and added value. Stating that they implemented more than 40 macro-scale projects in this process, Chairman Burkay stated that they are proud to bring the Advanced Composite Materials Research and Excellence Center to Bursa. Burkay stated that they aim to improve the production capability of industrialists in Bursa in the composite materials sector, which is a very strategic field with IKMAMM, and said, “With the vision we have put forward as BTSO, we direct our industrialists to high value-added business areas. In addition to our traditional sectors such as automotive, textile and machinery, we aim to make Bursa a global player in sectors such as rail systems, composite, aviation and defense. At this point, IKMAMM is a very important investment in the future of our city. In the composite sector, which is called the material of tomorrow, our companies will have the opportunity to develop these technologies today. " said.

"WE WILL BUILD TWO MORE EXCELLENCE CENTERS"

Noting that IKMAMM, the second center of excellence that BUTEKOM brought to Bursa after the Textile and Technical Textile Center of Excellence, has a strong R&D infrastructure required for the production and development of original products in the composite sector, Chairman Burkay said, “We expect all industrialists to benefit from the facilities of our center. . I would like to express my gratitude to our Minister of Industry and Technology, Mr. Mustafa Varank, for their support to our project. We aim to bring two more centers of excellence to our Bursa in the fields of nanotechnology and micromechanics-microelectronics. " said.
