The Gökmen Space and Aviation Training Center (GUHEM), which is one of the biggest and the world's leading centers in Europe, organized in cooperation with Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry and TÜBİTAK, was opened to visitors with a ceremony attended by the Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank.

The Gökmen Space and Aviation Training Center, built in an integrated structure with the Science and Technology Center brought to Bursa by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, and brought to the city in cooperation with the BTSO, Metropolitan Municipality and TÜBİTAK, opened its doors to space and aviation enthusiasts with a ceremony. The opening ceremony of GUHEM, which adds visual value to the city with its zeppelin-shaped architecture, was attended by Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank, Bursa Metropolitan Mayor Alinur Aktaş, Governor Yakup Canbolat, BTSO President İbrahim Burkay, Bursa Deputies, AK Party Provincial Chairman Ayhan Salman. .

Our future is in the hands of future generations

The science adventure started in 2012

Mayor Aktaş stated that the science adventure of Bursa started with the Science and Technology Center established by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality in 2012 and thanked Recep Altepe, the former Metropolitan Municipality Mayor for bringing this center to Bursa. Mayor Aktaş stated that Bursa Science and Technology Center, which was built with the facilities of the Metropolitan Municipality, was opened in 2 after the center, which brings students together with science in an area of ​​approximately 500 square meters within the Atatürk Congress and Culture Center, said, “Of course, we only build a science center as Bursa. we did not stay. educate today the skilled workforce of the future, motivating, steer in the direction of talent in the right way, to them, "I can do" leading to instill a sense of the way we give today to our Science Expo is the country festival in Turkey's largest science. We will train the future astronauts

Stating that GUHEM was built on the land of the Metropolitan Municipality, Mayor Aktaş reminded that they contributed approximately 35 million TL for infrastructure and superstructure works and landscaping. First science center with space and aviation theme

Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank said that they started out by saying 'Bursa can make its next breakthrough in the fields of space and aviation and become the host of new clusters' and said that the idea of ​​GUHEM was born from here. Stating that GUHEM will increase awareness in the fields of space and aviation in Bursa and will inspire studies in this field, Minister Varank said, “Of course, GUHEM has the feature of being a first for our country. Namely; this is also Turkey's first aerospace-themed science center. An investment of over 14 million lira has been made for this center, which has a closed area of ​​130 thousand square meters. We have shown a very outstanding example of cooperation here. Our Metropolitan Municipality gave the land and also undertook all the landscaping. Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry revealed this beautiful and original building you see. Our affiliate TÜBİTAK also; He determined the themes within the center, designed the exhibitions, supplied all the tools and materials needed in the center, including the training workshops, and carried out the installation. In other words, all parties have joined forces to make Bursa one of the most important science and technology centers of our country ”.

Award-winning architecture

The GUHEM building, which attracts attention with its architecture, by the international jury board; Reminding that the best buildings of today and the future were selected in the category of "public buildings" at the 2019 European Property Awards, Minister Varank said, “In this center: There are structures such as interactive training devices, aviation training simulators, chemistry and biology laboratory, innovation training laboratory. A total of 2 exhibition units and 169 training areas were designed on 2 exhibition floors with the aviation and space theme, all of which were produced by local companies. So GUHEM; It offers workshops and laboratory environments to raise our youth and children that will make our country have a say in the world in space and aviation. It provides them with testing and training opportunities for different experiences. We want to get the future astronauts and pilots out of GUHEM. You know, realizing a dream we have established the Turkey of 20 years Space Agency. In the near future, we will announce the ambitious goals we set for ourselves to the public with the national space program. Here, GUHEM will be an important milestone for us in achieving our goals in space ”.

Competition moved into space

On the other hand, Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry President İbrahim Burkay emphasized that we are going through a new era in which technology-based international competition is now being transferred from earth to space. Representing the Bursa business world at the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Burkay stated that since 2013, companies in sectors such as automotive and machinery aim to transform their production capabilities into areas that require advanced technology such as space, aviation, defense, nano technology, composite materials and mechatronics, said, “ and we implemented our GUHEM project, which we put forward in 2013, when we started the transformation, in line with this vision. As Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we have brought the GUHEM, which cost 70 million TL in total, with an investment of 60 million TL and TÜBİTAK's 130 million TL investment, as a symbolic work just like the Sydney opera house, with its modern architectural structure and aesthetics. . With the support of our ministry of industry and technology and the collaboration of our Metropolitan Municipality and TÜBİTAK, this center, which we have completed, will bring a new mission to our Bursa in the space and aviation journey in line with our President's determination to move our country to the space league. "The talent of our productive minds together with our centers that open the horizons of new generations like GUHEM and our transformation move in technology will raise our Bursa and our country to a much stronger position in the world showcase."
