Professional athletes competed in the Metro Istanbul Strongman Challenge Train Pulling Competition event. Professional athlete Bora Güner became the winner of the competition by pulling the 33,5-ton train 35.20 meters in 20 seconds. In the competition held among Metro Istanbul employees, the T1 Line team came first.

Opening events of the M7 Mecidiyeköy-Mahmutbey Metro Line, the first driverless subway of the European Side, which will be opened soon, started. Within this scope; Metro Istanbul Strongman Challenge Train Drawing Competition was held at Tekstilkent Station.

Metro Istanbul and Turkey Powerlifting, Strongman and the first event organized in collaboration with the Federation of Street Workout; A train drawing competition was held among 5 teams of 8 people, consisting of Metro Istanbul employees.

Pull the train manpower race for the first time in Turkey was made and traditional teams in the competition scheduled to be held every year, in the train on time of 2 minutes 33,5 tonnes fought fiercely to attract the most away. The first prize in the competition was T26, who pulled the train 20 meters in 1 seconds Kabataş-Bağcılar Tram Line employees received a navy blue team. All competitors who participated in the event, where a tough struggle was experienced, were given a certificate for their performance.

40 female contestants took part in the train drawing competition in which a total of 2 people from Metro Istanbul competed. Arzu Özaydın and Betül Başoğlu on the M7 line were among those who shouldered the 33,5-ton train. Thus he was racing in the same team competition with Turkey's first train pull in women and men.

After the competition organized among the employees, National Sportsman Cenk Koçak and professional strongman athletes Bora Güner, Efe Kömek, Mirza Toptaş and Oktay Akay competed. Professional athlete Bora Güner took the first place by pulling the train 35.20 meters in 20 seconds in the competition where colorful images were experienced.

WHAT IS STRONGMAN?

From past to present, athletes have been practicing strongman sports by doing movements such as "Bent Press" (lifting the weight on the body by leaning), "LogPress" (lifting a thick log overhead). They lift high weights, as well as steel bars bending, chain breaking, etc. they performed various shows by applying movements. These lifts required large amounts of wrist, hand, and tendon force, as well as an extraordinary central nervous system strength.

In the late 20th century the term "Strongman" evolved to describe the people competing in this branch. More modern power competitions, which athletes perform with exercises such as pulling trucks, turning big tires, squatting with high weights, continue to be organized today. The most important of these competitions are; The Strongest Man in the World is the Arnold Strongman Classic and Giants Live Tour. However, many countries also have competitions at national level. In recent years, interest in grassroots sport has grown rapidly and competitions at local level are being held around the world.
