In Başkent, where the "Bicycle Road Project", one of the important projects of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, has been implemented, bicycle path construction has been accelerated in university campuses. After Başkent University, bicycle path studies have been completed at Gazi University and Turkish Aeronautical Association University campuses. The Metropolitan Municipality continues its negotiations with other universities.

After the completion of the Anıtpark-Beşevler Intersection, the first phase of the "Bicycle Road Project", which is among the important transportation projects for the capital, the bicycle paths network was expanded to university campuses upon the intense demand from students and rectorate.

THE BLUE WAY TO ENJOY STUDENTS AND UNIVERSITY STAFF

The project, which was initiated to encourage students, lecturers and employees of public and private universities to use bicycles on campus, is becoming increasingly widespread in all universities in Başkent.

The Metropolitan Municipality, which first completed the 4,4-kilometer bicycle path (blue road) in Başkent University Bağlıca Campus, finally opened the bicycle path at Gazi University and Turkish Aeronautical Association University.

THANKS TO THE PRESIDENT SLOW

Metropolitan Municipality Department of Science Affairs teams completed a total round-trip of 2,6 kilometers in Gazi University campus, and a total of 1,2 kilometers of round-trip cycle in the campus of Turkish Aeronautical Association.

Highlighting the importance of cooperation with local governments and thanking Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş for his support, Turkish Aeronautical Association University Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim Halil Güzelbey said, “The idea of ​​a bicycle path to universities was well thought out. It also brought color to our university. Our students will be able to use the bicycle safely inside. Thank you to everyone who contributed, ”he said.

Stating that they are extremely happy to encounter the bicycle road surprise in the new academic year and that transportation inside and outside the campus has become easier for them, the students expressed their thoughts as follows:

  • Arda Can Flower: “The bike path is very nice. A path that should be in developed countries. Thank you very much to Mansur Yavaş. Seeing this road at our university made us happy. Not everyone has a car, it was a nice advantage for those who prefer to use bicycles. Thank you."
  • Mehmet Zahit Yilmaz: “Building a bicycle path for our university has been very beneficial. Thank you to Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. "
  • Can Unveren: “I think the bicycle path is very useful. It will provide great convenience especially due to the large distances within the campus. I was already using a bicycle in my normal life. It was useful for me. I think I will use it often when the school term starts. "

NEGOTIATIONS WITH OTHER UNIVERSITIES CONTINUE

While universities in the capital will have a bicycle path one by one, the Metropolitan Municipality will soon start the production of the bicycle path that will be located in the landscape area within the METU campus.

Metropolitan Municipality, continuing its negotiations with other universities, also took action for the construction of a bicycle path between the METU-Hacettepe University and Bilkent University on-campus.
