Preparations for Transition to HEPP Code Inquiry System in İzmir Public Transportation Started

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality started its works in accordance with the circular titled "HES code inquiry in urban public transportation" issued by the Ministry of Interior within the scope of the efforts to prevent the coronavirus epidemic. In the first place, personalized Izmirim Cards will be included in the system. A special software program will be prepared for the personalization and tracking of bearer Izmirim Cards.

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality ESHOT General Directorate started to work after the "HES code inquiry in urban public transportation" circular issued by the Ministry of Interior within the scope of the efforts to prevent the spread of coronavirus. In accordance with the circular, integration of İzmirim Cards of citizens using public transportation vehicles with the data system of the Ministry of Health; it is aimed to identify those on the case or contact lists.

The number of personalized (with photo) Izmirim Cards registered in the smart fee collection system is approximately 2 million… 902 of them are actively used. Technical teams will ensure that these cards are integrated with the Ministry of Health data system in the first place. At the same time, work will be carried out to personalize bearer Izmirim Cards. 284 million 6 thousand 3 of the 318 million bearer cards registered in the system are actively used. With a special software to be prepared, these cards will be matched with the Turkish identity numbers of the users. At a later stage, a study will be carried out to ensure that all Izmirim Cards have a photo (personalized).

Soyer: Ankara's cooperation is essential

Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç SoyerHe emphasized that some decisions should be taken quickly in order for the system to be fully and rapidly established and that the cooperation of the relevant ministries is essential. President Soyer said, "The purpose of the circular issued by the Ministry of Interior is that people on the list of cases or contacts do not use public transportation and do not spread the disease."

Only Izmirim Card should be used

“In order for the system to work, first of all, the Ministry of Health needs to share all its data periodically and transparently with our General Directorate of ESHOT. Because that data should be entered into the system regularly so that the system detects the patient or the contact person, closes the card and makes the notification. Apart from that, there is something else very important for the implementation to be successful. We have citizens who benefit from public transportation in the city with their ID cards or cards issued by the ministries and therefore cannot be followed by the system. For this reason, all boarding except Izmirim Card should be prevented with the decision of the Provincial Hygiene Board. "
