The product developed by İSTAÇ, one of the İBB affiliates, and the Health Department, will end the institution's dependence on external resources for disinfectant purchases. The product in the same structure as Hypochlorous Acid, which is also produced in the human body, does not harm health. The disinfectant, which can be used in animals as well as in humans, is effective against bacteria and viruses. The most important difference of disinfectant from many products on the market is that it can be applied to both living and non-living tissues. The product, which shows its effect in less than a minute, is also environmentally friendly.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has developed a disinfectant that can be applied against bacteria and viruses using only water, salt and electrical energy. The product was created with the cooperation of İSTAÇ and IMM Health Department. The disinfectant, which has the same structure as the 100 percent natural biocide Hypochlorous Acid (HOCL) in the human body, does not harm health.
NO MORE DISINFECTANT
With the production of disinfectant, which is one of the most consumed preservatives during the pandemic process, IMM has also opened a serious door to savings. IMM, which regularly purifies hospitals, public transportation vehicles and public spaces used by the people in Istanbul, will no longer be dependent on an outside source for disinfectant purchases.
TO BE USED FOR THE HAND IN THE FIRST STAGE
The product will be used as a hand disinfectant in the first stage. The product can also be used for environment disinfection according to the needs; can be used in purifying the surface, air and environment. The product, which can be applied by spraying, pouring, wiping and fogging, has a wide range of uses.
DAILY PRODUCTION OF 24 THOUSAND LITERS
Providing information about the product developed by IMM with its own means, İSTAÇ Field Services Deputy General Manager Eyyup Demirhan said:
“The device can produce disinfectants at concentrations between 100 and 500 ppm. Different concentrations are used for different media disinfection. Our device can produce 500 thousand liters of disinfectant per day at a concentration of 8 ppm. If it is used for this hand disinfectant, it can be diluted to 24 thousand liters. 24 thousand liters of hand disinfectant can be produced in our facility per day. In addition, the product can be used in the disinfection of the environments by dilution. You can disinfect 1 liter of the product obtained by dilution and an area of 800 square meters with fogging management.
SENSITIVE TO THE ENVIRONMENT
One of the most important privileges of the product is that it can be applied to both animals and humans. Again, this disinfectant, which is easily destroyed in nature, is very advantageous for human, animal health and the environment. Providing information about the new disinfectant that is sensitive not only to health but also to the environment, IMM Head of Health Department Dr. Önder Yüksel Eryiğit emphasized the following points:
“Its active ingredient, Hypochlorous acid (HOCl); It is effective against microorganisms in less than a minute and HOCl; It is an FDA approved antiseptic and disinfectant. Hypochlorous acid (HOCl), which is the active ingredient of the product; It is a physiological substance. The most important difference of the product from other antiseptics and disinfectants; Its active ingredient is Hypochlorous acid (HOCI) produced by blood cells (neutrophils) in the immune system of the human body. Since it is an endogenous chemical, it has the maximum tolerance capacity in the human body. The product can be used as both an antiseptic and a disinfectant. As known; antiseptics; can be applied to living tissue, and disinfectants on inanimate materials. Therefore, the product; It can be applied on all living and non-living tissues. Also Type-1; There is both Type-3 usage. So it can be used in both human and animal health. Most other disinfectants are only used as Type-2, ie ground-surface disinfectant, but cannot be used for living tissues in human and animal health.
