The first all-electric premium compact model that Borusan Otomotiv BMW i3 is the distributor in Turkey has reached 200 thousand units of production figures. The 3th example of the BMW i200, which plays a pioneering role in the field of sustainable mobility, came off the tape with its Fluid Black metallic color.

The BMW i3, the pioneer of its segment in sustainable mobility and the first large-scale mass production model of BMW that runs on electricity, continues to attract clean and performance driving enthusiasts even after 7 years with its zero-emission engine and environmentally friendly body made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) . Developed as a revolutionary car concept for zero emission mobility in city life, the BMW i3 encouraged other automakers to switch to electric mobility. Today, in its 3th year, the BMW i7 is not only the best-selling premium car in its segment, it has also become the world-famous symbol of emission-free driving in the city.

The BMW i3 stands out as BMW's first large-scale series model powered entirely by electricity, as well as the brand's first car made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). Beyond purely electric driving, the BMW i3 also represents a new concept of premium mobility, strongly characterized by sustainability. Painting the exterior requires 75 percent less energy and 70 percent less water than conventional processes, while 3 percent of the materials used for the thermoplastic exterior parts of the BMW i25 are made from either recycled or renewable resources. While the energy used in the production of the BMW i3, which uses a high percentage of renewable raw materials and recycled materials in its interior, is provided by wind turbines on the factory site, the entire production process is carried out with the least impact on the environment.

Milestone in Electric Mobility

Thanks to the BMW i3, which has significantly accelerated BMW's progress in the field of electric mobility, the BMW i brand has become the workshop of the future for the entire company. The gross energy content of the high-voltage storage unit almost doubled, from 3 to 22,6 kWh without changing its size, to enable the BMW i42,2's engine to drive purely electric. The range of the BMW i3 thus increased between 285 and 310 kilometers, according to WLTP test data. Based on the know-how gained with the BMW i3, numerous innovations have also been made in the fields of driving, power electronics and charging technology. While the fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology is now ready for mass production, the BMW iNEXT, the brand's flagship in the field of technology, will begin to be produced from 2021.

20 Percent More Economical Than Traditional Engines

According to a study conducted by the German Automobile Club (ADAC) in 2019, fully electric cars offer not only ecological but also significant economic advantages. According to calculations, the total cost of a BMW i3 is on average about 20 percent lower than a BMW model with a comparable combustion engine in terms of engine performance and equipment. In our country, this rate rises to even higher levels with the tax advantages of electric cars.
