Mersin Metropolitan Municipality is increasing the measures it takes to combat the Covid-19 outbreak every day. In this context, transparent cabins were built to separate the driver and passengers from each other in the public transportation vehicles belonging to the Metropolitan Municipality. Transparent cabins, which will be placed on all public transportation vehicles belonging to the Metropolitan, will cut off communication between passengers and the driver in terms of health. It is planned that the installation of the transparent cabinets will be completed within 2 months.

Topçuoğlu: "We wanted to take precautions against the risk of contamination and physical interventions"

Head of Transportation Department Ersan Topçuoğlu gave information about the new application. Stating that Mersin Metropolitan Municipality has fulfilled its task in the fastest and most effective way during the pandemic process, Topçuoğlu underlined that the same sensitivity is also shown in transportation services provided by public transportation. Topçuoğlu said, “Our aim in building cabins for public transportation vehicles is to take precautions against the risk of contamination that occurs during verbal communication due to the daily transportation of 1500 people by our drivers. At the same time, we wanted to take precautions against physical interventions reflected in the press. We contacted our Machinery Supply Maintenance and Repair Department, related to the subject. They welcomed this issue, prepared the project and started working ”.

Head of the Department Topçuoğlu drew attention to the fact that the drivers of public transport vehicles will be more safe in terms of health and safety during their duties due to the work done.

Aslan: "2 cars will be equipped with cabins in 200 months"

Sabahat Aslan, Head of the Machinery Supply Maintenance and Repair Department, stated that they started work to ensure passenger and driver safety when the cabin request came to them, and said that they would place a cabin in 2 vehicles within a period of 200 months. Aslan said, “It is a very good service for our municipality. We looked positively at their projects in terms of the health and safety of our drivers and started the business. "After 2 months, all our drivers will continue on their way in a healthy and safe way."
