About 408 million road trips are expected during the upcoming National Day holiday, China's highway network is ready for increased passenger traffic, the Ministry of Transport of China announced in a statement. Ministry SözcüSun Wenjian stated at the press conference that a strong demand for travel has emerged as it will coincide with the Mid-Autumn Festival on October 1st and the National Day holiday that will last throughout the week.

He said there is a strong demand among the public to visit relatives and friends and travel, adding that the domestic transport network will remain at a high level throughout the holiday. Sun said that during the 8-day holiday, around 51 million trips will be made every day through the country's highway network, which will increase by 1 to 3 percent compared to last year. On the first day of the holiday, passenger traffic will peak and approximately 54 million trips will be recorded.

The ministry will strengthen monitoring of major transport channels and roads around tourist sites to ensure timely handling of traffic jams or accidents, as well as broadcast real-time traffic and weather information to guide the public towards better regulation. It was also announced that the highways will be free for passenger cars with seven seats or less from midnight October 1 until October 8.
